Uniting East Africa through Karate

Mashariki Open is an annual East African regional Karate Championship for talent development, and promotion of Karate through uniting athletes, coaches, referees, and karate clubs from across the region to compete in a spirit of excellence, discipline, and friendship.

To become the leading regional Karate tournament in East Africa, fostering excellence, unity, and international competitiveness among athletes and clubs.

Mission

To provide a professionally organized and internationally recognized Karate competition that promotes sportsmanship, skill development, regional integration, and adherence to WKF and UFAK standards.

Promote the development and growth of Karate in East Africa.

Provide athletes and clubs with opportunities for networking and high-level competition.

Enhance technical standards through competition and officiating excellence.

Every match and officiating panel strictly follows World Karate Federation (WKF) and Union of African Karate Federations (UFAK) standards.

The tournament is professionally administered by the Mashariki Open Technical Committee in collaboration with participating clubs and their In-Country Executives under oversight of the respective National Karate Federations.

Strategic and disciplinary decisions are made by a majority vote of this committee to ensure transparency and compliance with WKF and UFAK guidelines.
